"Best of Friends" My Mind's Eye (Pink or Red) Challenge#8

This month's My Mind's Eye Challenge was to use either pink or red based on the following sketch:

 

As soon as I saw this sketch, (designed by Anna Stubbington), I knew I had to play along! It included one of my favorite elements on a page, scallops! (And the color, pink!) Perfect sketch to create more of my scallop flowers!
I use a snapshot of my girls, and paired it with the new Quite Contrary Collection, by My Mind's Eye.

Scallop flower happiness! (I know. I really, tried hard to stay away from the Swiss Dots folder, but I could not do it!) LOL

One of the things I love about My Mind's Eye, are these preprinted titles! It makes the design so much faster! Cute too!

 

I tied string around the label. and through the beautiful button! What a fantastic way to add more detail to a journaling label.
This button came from a package of Jenni Bowlin vintage style buttons:

These are absolutely beautiful, and complimented this paper perfectly! Love this new find!!!

"XOXO" Valentine's Frames(details for the home)

Thank you for all your well wishes for my children. Gabi, and Roman are starting to feel much better. They should be back in school tomorrow. Poor little Macie, is doing about the same. At least she is on medication, and was able to sleep through the night! 
Today, I have a Valentine's project to share with you. I love Valentine's Day, and love to add small splashes of Valentine decor throughout the home. This is a holiday to be celebrated with all those you love! (And, take some time to enjoy sweet chocolate, too!)
Do you remember these? Well, I decided to take this concept, and design panels filled with Valentine goodness! These frames did not take much time, and I was able to use my scraps from the Cupid Collection. (Yes, more Pink Paislee love!) I hope you are not tired of seeing projects with this paper, but I cannot stop using it. I now have seriously dwindled my stash!
I purchased four cream frames to spell out the popular term of endearment, XOXO. The frames were inexpensive, but beautiful. They complimented this paper collection, fabulously!

The bird is from Maya Road. Sometimes, you need to shop from your srapbooking stash! You never know what you might find!

Now, if you know my style of scrapbooking. I feel, I am pretty linear, and clean lined. This ribbon was out of the norm for me! I was beginning to pleat it, as I had done in the first panel. However, while in the process, the "ribbon", just sort of happened! I stared at it for a long time. (I do not like elements really tilted or off the page.) After some time, it grew on me! I fell in love with it, and decided to keep it. It was something different for me!
Now, I made the paper roses out of the color natural from Bazzill. (Paper roses were at every booth at CHA!) I decided to give them a try. I added these fabulous metallic chalks to the them:

 

I will admit I received them in my DT box from Pebbles, and have not used them! I rarely used chalk, glitter, or glimmer mist on my projects. However, I used the pink metallic chalk on the inside, and outside of the flower.  I fell in love with the chalks, and also with the final outcome of the paper roses!  The chalks had a wonderful application! Happy Wednesday

It has been a tough week in the Sergi household! All three of my children are sick. They have missed school, and all of their activities this week. I work today, so Steven will be taking the children to see the doctor. I was having cabin fever yesterday. This was new to me, because I am a homebody! (love staying home)I ventured with the kids yesterday to a park, so they could be in the fresh air. It did not go as planned. It was rainy, and too cold. So, it was back to the house. Hopefully, they are better soon! We are going to be busy with all the homework that has been missed!
Now, it is time for me to get ready to work at one of my favorite scrapbooking stores!, The new My Mind's Eye, has arrived at Timeless Treasures, so come on in! (Shop and say hello to me!!) I am in love with so many of the colors, and different papers. What to buy???? LOL

Pebbles DT (Using your Scraps) Challenge

"Giggle: the sound of a happy heart"This layout was featured on the Pebbles Blog, last Friday.  Christa, challenged the design team to create a project, using your "scraps." Usually, I do tend to throw away the leftover scraps, after completing a layout. If it is a large piece, then I will keep it. I file the scraps with the rest of the paper, or within the same manufacturer. I simply do not have enough room to file every scrap. I wish I did! I would probably not cringe, each time one of my little ones, came into my room for a full sheet of 12x12! (Smile)
Besides the cardstock, every piece on the above layout is a scrap piece. I created my Scallop Flowers , out of leftover patterned paper that I saved. The back of the paper was blue, and I thought this color would be fantastic for the flowers. It also worked well with the rest of the page. I adore this photo of my girls. It was a casual evening, and love that I was able to catch Macie in the middle of her "trademark", giggle.

(Love this particular ribbon from Pebbles! It has a lovely texture, and appears as if you added pleats! I love it when I can save some time!)

I love this page of my two favorite girls, but am sad that I have used all of my Skipping Along paper! However, I guess that was the point of the challenge! 
Now, if you have been holding onto "scraps", I am sure there is a project begging to be created!

Scallop (Paper) Flower Tutorial

Hello! I know, I am posting quite late this evening. Two of my little ones stayed home from school today. They both had a slight fever, and cough this morning. I spent the majority of the day giving them TLC! We spent time on the couch ,watching every episode of Dora the Explorer.(It seemed that way!  LOL) I have now found some quiet time to sit at my computer.Today, I am going to share my simple steps in creating my Scallop Flowers.

Scallop Flower tutorial:
 
 I love using larger scallop punches to create  larger flowers.

 I do like to begin lifting the scallops, so they can begin to curl.









(Notice the top red layer of the red flower?? Instead of cutting in between each scallop, I cut between every other two! Looks like individual hearts all the way around!)

Now, you have my steps to create your beautiful version of a Scallop Flower!  I love embellishing the centers with brads, buttons, the Candy Dots by Pebbles , the flower pearls by Jenni Bowlin, chipboard elements, flowers, punches, stitching, etc. There arso many creative ways to embellish the centers of flowers!  
The majority of the time I will create these flowers with three scallop punches, but love the look of four scallop pieces! I love to layer. Sometimes, I do not know when to stop!
I know, super easy technique! However, love the end result!!! Who does not love flowers on their pages??
