Scrappin' the Details

hello Sunshine {Jillibean Summer Squash}

Sometimes, you just need a new collection to inspire you! I stumbled upon the new summer line from Jillibean Soup at Timeless Treasures! I loved the Summer Squash Collection, and was happy to see it fully stocked! 
This week has been a little challenging for us (me), so I wanted to create a cheerful layout! This line is perfect for all your favorite summer moments.
I used a snapshot of Gabi playing outside, wearing her favorite white sunglasses. (She still has them.) This snapshot was taken a week before we moved to Texas. It was a sad, and happy moment, all rolled into one!

I tried a few alternative colors for the background of this page, but decided the white was the best. I spritzed Tatttered Angels Glimmer Mist (Pink Bubblegum), on the background, to add a touch of color. (I also pulled out my crimper for the blue strip, and blue circle diecut. Thanks to the amazing Melinda Spinks! She used it on one of her recent projects! Thank you my friend, for the inspiration! (Click over to her {blog}. It is filled with inspiration, and gorgeous projects!!!)  
A few details:

I did more stamping on this layout. I am in the process of organizing/purging my stamps , both acrylic, and wood. I realized I do own quite a bit, so I need to try and use them more on my projects.  I am not fond of my handwriting, so I decided to stamp my journaling, using a one line sentiment.
I also used cork on my page, because I found this package at Michael's. (Thanks to the talented Dawn McVey, on where to find them! Her blog is one you do not want to miss!) Her projects are stunning!
 

  

(Working on a home decor project, and hope to finish this weekend) I was actually looking for 12x12 sheets, and was happy to find this size. A word of caution, the sheets are really thin!! I cannot tell you how many pieces I ruined due to adhesive. I learned not to apply the adhesive directly to the cork. The positive of these sheets,are that they can be used with your Sizzix, and Cricut. You can also used your punches!!!  ( notice my photo corner)They are fantastic to stamp on too. 
(The Bracket at the bottom of the page, was cut from Tim Holtz's Sizzix Bracket Die in the above snapshot.) 


One last detail:
Here I used the negative from the flower, and placed a portion of the floral pattern, underneath my diecut flower. I thought it added more color to my page.

Play Date {Girls Paperie} By Margie Romney Aslett

At CHA, one of my favorite lines, was the Girls Paperie by Margie Romney Aslett. I loved the distressed edges, the floral prints, and the soft patterns of this paper collection.This line was perfect for snapshots of my girls, and I was happy to see it at Timeless Treasures! I believe it has sold out twice already, and I was glad to find some of the fantastic embellishments that went with this collection. I had taken a bunch of snapshots of Macie with her doll. She loves them, and everyday there is a new "favorite" doll. I am finally realizing that she is growing so quickly, so I wanted to capture those sweet moments, of being a "girl." I used one of the snapshots, I had taken to create the following layout:
"Play date"

A few details:
 
I brought in denim fabric onto this page. The paper felt worn in, and distressed, so I decided to create a denim flower. I do not have the right attachment to cut denim on my Cricut, so I simply cut them by hand. As you can see this flower has six different layers. I love what layers can do, to an embellishment! (Of course, you need lots of pop dots, and glue dots!) LOL On the large scallop layer, I used my scallop punch and cut this from natural cardstock. I brushed the entire scallop with Teresa Collins Shimmerz, and it matched this paper line perfectly. I added more detail to the scallop, by piercing holes around the outer edge.

The word "Play" was cut from the font Mary Jane by Quickutz.(Again, I used natural cardstock) I then used the following supplies to finish them: 

I first applied a thin coat of Teresa Collins Shimmerz Pearl. I allowed them to dry for a few minutes. It really did not take long for the letters to dry. Then using a sponge dauber, I applied Memento's Rich Cocoa, along the edges, bringing in some of the color to the inside. I find this type of dauber gives me better control in inking my embellishements.

Closeup detail of the borders: The first border is a sticker from the collection, the second border is stamped with the Girls Paperie Stamo Set, and the second is punched from cardstock. (I applied the same technique to this border, as I did the letters.)
One last detail:

This paper line is absolutely fantastic, and I hope to find more time to create with her beautiful lines!

Little Girls are a gift (Crate Paper Doll Collection)

Happy Wednesday!! I have been creating with Crate's Paper Doll Collection, and love the whimsical patterns, in this paper line. I have a layout to share of my sweet little Macie, and love that the page captured her playful personality!

Few details:
 
The scallop circle tag on the white bold flower diecut, is from Martha Stewart. It was white, but I used Tattered Angels mist to change the color. The color I used was Tattered Angels Mist in Pink Bubblegum. A perfect match for this paper collection. I love layers on my pages, and this white flower has about 7!!! The brad in the center, is also from this collection.    
I did something different with my journaling. I took one of the artisan elements from Pink Paislee, and layered this on top of my typewritten journaling. I gave the label a white wash, and finish it off with the Tattered Angels Mist, in Pink Bubblegum. I really concentrated on the detailed grooves of the label.

Lastly, my pages do not seem complete without a little ribbon! Of course, I love scrunching, and bunching to add more dimension to my page! I know I have used this ribbon quite a lot lately! It is by Stampin Up, and I love the width, and texture of the ribbon. It is one of my favorites!!

American Crafts & Pebbles Product Swap(Final Day)

It is the final day of the Pebbles, and American Crafts Product Swap! I have loved this week on the Pebbles Blog! There has been a fantastic array of projects, different styles, and inspiration each day! Our design team coordinator, Lynn Ghahary is doing such a fantastic job on the blog! (Check out her work!!! I love her scrapbooking style!)
I can share the layout, that I gave you a sneak peek on Monday! I combined the Botanique Collection, by American Crafts, and the May Bouquet from Pebbles. These two companies are a perfect match, and I will say it again, so easy to design your page!
"Sugar & Spice"

This snapshot of Macie was taken last spring. I love this snapshot of her, because her expression says it all. She is such a sweet and loving little girl. However, she is always full of surprises. She says things, out of the blue, that kind of take me by surprise. She has found a new way of tugging at my heart. When she has done something that might be a little naughty, or if she is wanting something, all she has to do is look at me with those deep brown eyes! My new nickname for her, is Brown Eyes. She definitely keeps all of us on her toes!!!
A few details:

I am loving the doiles, I found at Michaels. The Botanique papers were feminine, and elegant, that the doilies added a bit of softness to the page.  Of course, I can never leave anything alone. The doilies were white, so I used Glimmer Mist on them, to change the color. Again, you  can see the bits of color peeking through, and this added the "spice" to my page.

I stitched along the top edges of the doilies, and added pearls to give this page a touch of elegance. One of my favorite techniques, is to hang embellishments on my pages. I hung this tiny tag, from the American Crafts Flair Brad, and finished it with a pearl flower. (That cute white photo corner is from Martha Stewart.)

"Framed Spring Floral" (Dear Lizzy by American Crafts)

Good morning! 
I hope you are enjoying your day thus far. Today, I have another altered frame to share with you. I paired one of my favorite snapshots of my girls, with the Dear Lizzy Collection by American Crafts.

I did a little stamping in the corner, and embellished with paper roses. I love the floral background paper! It is one of my favorites in the Dear Lizzy line.Of, course my project cannot be complete, without  a little ribbon twisting! I am loving the freedom to manipulate my ribbon! It is so much fun, because it does not have to be perfect!  You may remember, that I only owned one color of the Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist! (Pearl is my favorite) However, after I finished the frame, I felt it needed just a touch of color. I went to the store, and was in luck that they had the perfect shade to compliment the paper. I simply, sprayed the white mat! (After I mist, I do like to dab it in areas, with a sponge dauber.) I love the outcome, and the tiny bits of darker color peeking through. (The color I used was, Sunflower. It matched the yellow in the paper perfectly.) I love it when that happens!

 Notice the yellow scallop circle? It was actually in white, and comes in a package of 12 by Martha Stewart! One of the tags, coordinates with one of her punches. I will share it when I post photos of my "Soar" banner.
The tag was white, but I wanted it to be yellow, so I misted away!

"celebrate sunshine" My Little Yellow Bicycle

Today, I have a scrapbook page to share using one of my favorite lines, My Little Yellow Bicycle. (I realize that I say this about every paper line out there!) When I first saw this line at Scrapbook Oasis, I knew I was not leaving without it! I loved the color, the patterns, and the embellishments. It is called Fresh Print Clothesline. It is so pretty, and such a fresh design!
I used a recent snapshot from our Easter holiday. When I saw this photo of Gabi and Roman, I knew it would be perfect for this paper.

Few details:

Oh my stars! I am in love with the Artisan Elements by Pink Paislee. I simply gave it a quick wash with yellow paint, and using my sponge dauber, went over it with white. I tried to get into some of the grooves, so the pattern would be more defined. The paper flowers are cut from the Cricut, and I simply stacked two on top of one another, with you guess it......pop dots! ( Can you see the Dear Lizzie fabric pink and white circle, in the lower left hand corner? Just FYI, you can not run it through an embossing folder! LOL) I thought it would be fun to cut my butterflies out of this fabric, but it did not work. 

Detail of butterflies. They were  cut from the  Stampin' Up! Embosslits Die , called Beautiful Wings! I love butterflies, so when I saw it in the catalog, I placed my order! This die, cuts the butterfly, and embosses it at the same time! I added a small pearl to the centers of them. (You know if see a butterfly, there will be some stitching!) LOL

"Glittered Paper Roses Tutorial" (Little Light Studio)

Good morning! Kayla Aimee saw my Valentine's Frames in the Live Pink Gallery. She asked, if I would not mind creating a tutorial on how I created the "glittered paper roses." It was very nice of her to ask me, and I was happy to do it! I created this for her website, Little Light Studio. This has become one of my favorite places to visit. This website offers classes, and free lessons!! It is full of inspiration, so you might want to stay for awhile!

in2scraps "Go Green" March Challenge

Happy Monday! in2scraps March's Challenge was to, "Go Green!" I decided to scrapbook a snapshot of my little Macie. You cannot see from the snapshot, but her shirt reads, Think Green. She was holding a little flower, in her hands and I knew this would coordinate well with the paper I selected.
I decided to use products from TPC Studio. They had a darling little collection, called Woodland Whimsy! It is so whimsical, with the birds and trees. I purchased this line last summer while in Texas. It is nice to finally be able to use some of this cute paper!

I really had fun with this page, and decided to incorporate a mini "banner." Banners are something I have been noticing on pages, and really love the cute detail they add to a page. However, I do not have banner punch or stamp. I knew I did not want to cut the triangles! LOL I love easy, so I turned to my Cricut! Luckily, I have the Sweet Treats Cartridge. It has a birthday hat that I used to create the banner. My banner pennants are 2 3/4. Super easy, and super cute!  
Where is the challenge??? I decided to recycle something that I seem to always have around in my scrapbook room! A simple paper bag from Timeless Treasures! (do not tell Steven) I thought outside of my "box", and created these simple paper flowers, out of an actual paper bag! 
These are the only items I used to create the flowers! Only four scrapbooking products! (Okay, five, I forgot about the Sizzix die!)   

 
A few details:

I also covered the chipboard tree with the paper bag, and inked the edges.

Now, my children can tell their teachers, that we recycle more than just plastic and cans!  LOL Their Mom also found a new way to recycle the many bags from her favorite scrapbook store!

"Oh, Bebe" Teresa Collins (Chic Bebe Girl)

As I was cleaning my crop tote, I came across an old layout of Miss Macie. She was only a sweet six months old! When I was unpacking my scrapbook items(during my move), I came across a few loose scrapbook pages. To save myself some time, I simply tucked them into my large tote. I am cropping with a friend this weekend, so I needed to have my tote empty! Thank goodness, because I really love this snapshot of her.  I normally, do not go back and redo older layouts. However, my old layout had embellishments that were yellowing. (old page pebbles) I love Macie's expression so much, that I had to find time to scrapbook it, once again. I was in luck, because while I was at work, I noticed that Timeless Treasures, received the Teresa Collins Chic Bebe Girl collection. Timeless has it all in the store right now. (Including the other three lines) I went back, and bought a few items from this gorgeous line.
I love Teresa Collins products. She has designed everything from the paper, ribbons, chipboard elements, letter stickers, and there are stamps too!! It all goes together so well, that it did not take me very long to recreate a new layout of my darling little girl!

I love that chipboard frame! Wish there were a few more in the package! I love Teresa's Collins signature item, the chipboard clocks! They add so much to a page. The crown embellishment is from my stash. It was originally in white but I used my Pebbles Metallic chalks, and applied a pink wash. The pink clock, is sitting on a velvet letter "O." Yes, it is a letter from K & Company. I thought it made for a perfect backdrop! 

I even pulled out my sewing machine, and stitched a fun pattern along my photo mat!
One last detail:

I love making these paper roses! Paper roses are definitely a trend right now! I have my own simple way of making them. However, I wanted to know Stephanie's secrets, for creating the perfect "rose!" You can go Here, to purchase her techniques for creating her roses! How fabulous of her to share her tips! The format is very well done, and you will be making your own paper roses in no time! I cannot wait to try out her techniques!

"They say it's your birthday" Card-My Mind's Eye

This photo inspired the design of the following card. I loved the color combination of pink, and cream. I knew I wanted to create a card that would be simple, but full of soft details. This card is going to be perfect for one of my girlfriends!

Notice the small flowers on the pin? I was inspired by these stick pins by Jenni Bowlin.
I know we all have those fabulous Prima Flowers in the glass jars! I know I have many of them in my stash! Now, I have a beautiful and easy way to dress up the stick pins. I have only used them probably twice on a card. I did feel that the pins needed something else. They were just kind of there, not really serving a scrapbooking purpose!  LOL Tip: I used a tiny amount of glue (I used a hot glue gun), on the pin and slip the center of the flower through the pin. The flowers already had a tiny hole in their centers. Super simple, but makes a lovely statement!
