My Mind's Eye Challenge 23: Scrapbook Page

The next challenge is up on the My Mind's Eye Blog. Here is the sketch designed by Anam Stubbington:

I have had a pretty full week, so I was so happy to have a sketch as my starting point! I stayed pretty true to the above design, and love the final page of my sweet little guy!

This page used the new collection called Lime Twist. I am in love, love I tell you with this paper! I could use this pattern over, and over! I think I am in love with the color orange, too. It seems to be following me every time I sit to scrapbook.

The stars are actually on one diecut, but here I cut them apart to add a fun cluster of embellishments. The title is also created with the Genuine title diecut.
 
Close up of my journaling. I found a new font, that I absolutely love! It is called
1942 Report, and one of my faves at the moment. I added a bit of inking to the top of the tag, using the Boy Lost & Found stamp. I punched a few of the numbers, using my circle punch to add them around the page.

My Mind's Eye Challenge {Black}

Good Monday Morning!
I wanted to share with you that My Mind's Eye has a new challenge up on their blog. Here is the fun sketch designed by Anam Stubbington.

"Oct. 31"

This snapshot is one of my favorites from last Halloween. Gabi could not decide between a witch, or a fairy! So she added wings to her costume! I used my favorite Halloween Line, Haunted for my page. (My next project with this line, are altered frames.)

I will have to share my last day of: Five Days, Five Haunting Halloween Projects until tomorrow. I realized all the snapshots I had taken of my banner were lost when my hard drive crashed. Unfortunately, I do not have time to rephotograph today.
I am busy in my craft room, designing my December Daily for tomorrow's Preview Night at Timeless. I also have a class I have to teach tonight. So I am having a glitter, stamping, inking, and diecutting party over here!

It was a busy weekend for our family, and me! I taught my banner class on Saturday, and it went fabulous! It was wonderful to see that almost every person left home with a completed banner!!! We did it! 

My sweet son, had his biggest tackle of the season. He stopped the running back, before he could even take a step forward! I think I was loudest, and the happiest Mom ever! You would have thought he scored a touchdown!!! I am so proud of him, and he really needed this confidence boost!!!

Gabi and I finished our weekend, by having a Girl's night out! I love spending time with my  children one, on one. We had a lot of laughs, and enjoyed yummy food at Simply Fondue! A perfect finish to a great weekend!

I am a big fan of Jillibean Soup! (I love the quality of their papers, and unique embellishments!) I am in love with their Chicken Noodle Collection, and I had enough of this paper, to join this challenge, Free For All Friday Sketch.
You definitely want to follow the link, and take a look at what others designed for this challenge, too. This is the sketch we worked with:

I enjoyed the sketch, and was able to scrapbook two more snapshots of my darling son!

Have you tried the Coredinations Cardstock? This is my first time to work with this paper, and I can tell you, that I love it! It was easy to sand, and the texture on this paper is fabulous. It was perfect for this collection of papers!
details:

I added machine stitching to the page, to give it more texture. Then rolled the paper downward, and tore, at intervals. I also sanded down the chipboard alphas to give the page a more worn in look.

This cute little chick is part of the Farm Fun Set. I wanted to give him a little bit of fluff, so I used the flocking powder by Doodlebug. Hopefully, you can tell that the yellow in the small jar, is a little too dark. By adding some white flocking powder to the yellow, it lighten my color, to the perfect shade! By mixing colors, just as you would paint, you can achieve that color, that you think you do not have!

"My funny Lil' Guy" Sketchy Thursday Challenge-(Pebbles DT)

Today on the Pebbles Blog, it is Sketchy Thursday! Liz Qualman, designed a fabulous sketch! If you have not visited her blog, you definitely need to stop by! If you need a jumpstart in your scrapbooking, her sketches will definitely inspire you!
I used snapshots of my son to create the following layout:
"My Funny Lil Guy"

This layout was created with the Lil' Buddy Collection.  I love the snapshots of my sweet son. He loved wearing bright, and colorful hats when he was younger. One of his favorites was this orange striped one! (I think I still have it!)
Journaling reads: Roman you are my silly little guy! I am so blessed to have a little boy like you. I cannot imagine my life without a son. You never stop! You are constantly playing, and making the silliest sounds. All I need to do is look at your face, and I instantly melt! You are my shining joy!
Here is one detail of the star cluster:
  
I cut out some of the stars in the patterned paper, and used them with a few punched stars. I used my go to, pop dots, to add lots of fun texture. I know it is difficult to see in the page, but I did punch a star shape into the bottom right hand corner.
Sorry so short, but I have an enormous to do list calling my name! (I am sure you do too!) LOL

in2scraps "Go Green" March Challenge

Happy Monday! in2scraps March's Challenge was to, "Go Green!" I decided to scrapbook a snapshot of my little Macie. You cannot see from the snapshot, but her shirt reads, Think Green. She was holding a little flower, in her hands and I knew this would coordinate well with the paper I selected.
I decided to use products from TPC Studio. They had a darling little collection, called Woodland Whimsy! It is so whimsical, with the birds and trees. I purchased this line last summer while in Texas. It is nice to finally be able to use some of this cute paper!

I really had fun with this page, and decided to incorporate a mini "banner." Banners are something I have been noticing on pages, and really love the cute detail they add to a page. However, I do not have banner punch or stamp. I knew I did not want to cut the triangles! LOL I love easy, so I turned to my Cricut! Luckily, I have the Sweet Treats Cartridge. It has a birthday hat that I used to create the banner. My banner pennants are 2 3/4. Super easy, and super cute!  
Where is the challenge??? I decided to recycle something that I seem to always have around in my scrapbook room! A simple paper bag from Timeless Treasures! (do not tell Steven) I thought outside of my "box", and created these simple paper flowers, out of an actual paper bag! 
These are the only items I used to create the flowers! Only four scrapbooking products! (Okay, five, I forgot about the Sizzix die!)   

 
A few details:

I also covered the chipboard tree with the paper bag, and inked the edges.

Now, my children can tell their teachers, that we recycle more than just plastic and cans!  LOL Their Mom also found a new way to recycle the many bags from her favorite scrapbook store!

Pebbles Inc. First Blog Challenge and a Massive Blog Crawl

Love you. (Pebbles Design Team-Notebook Paper Challenge)

Hello! I have been going non stop today! I am finally sitting down with my laptop, with the Bachelor in the background. LOL (I am not really that interested. I am just happy to be sitting!!)
I wanted to share the following layout that went up on the Pebbles Blog today.  Marielle challenged the team members to use "notebook paper", on our projects. This is what I designed for her challenge:

I originally was going to use one of my notebook stamps, to include my journaling on my page. However, I remembered that I had the notebook patterned paper in my stash. It really made the So Tweet Collection  pop!
Supplies:

Few details:

I love this texture ribbon from Pebbles! It made it so easy to scrunch it, into this design. I used two white buttons to secure the ends. Loved that it finished this detail!
Tip: I used glue dots to manipulate my ribbon, but a little bit of hot glue in certain areas, will help secure it permanently.
(Did you notice the word "love", is embossed? It is a sticker, and yes, stickers can be embossed too!!!)

"Best of Friends" My Mind's Eye (Pink or Red) Challenge#8

This month's My Mind's Eye Challenge was to use either pink or red based on the following sketch:

 

As soon as I saw this sketch, (designed by Anna Stubbington), I knew I had to play along! It included one of my favorite elements on a page, scallops! (And the color, pink!) Perfect sketch to create more of my scallop flowers!
I use a snapshot of my girls, and paired it with the new Quite Contrary Collection, by My Mind's Eye.

Scallop flower happiness! (I know. I really, tried hard to stay away from the Swiss Dots folder, but I could not do it!) LOL

One of the things I love about My Mind's Eye, are these preprinted titles! It makes the design so much faster! Cute too!

 

I tied string around the label. and through the beautiful button! What a fantastic way to add more detail to a journaling label.
This button came from a package of Jenni Bowlin vintage style buttons:

These are absolutely beautiful, and complimented this paper perfectly! Love this new find!!!
I am glad I was able to play along, and thank MME for the inspiration! Fantastic sketch, and gorgeous paper!

"Your r the bees knees" Making Memories Designer Challenge

Hi, again! I have shared with you the following layout, but I had several crafting mistakes! First, I had titled my layout,"your the bees knees, instead of, "you r the bees knees!" Did anyone catch this?? I did while I was at a cheer competition!  After I had photographed the layout, I noticed my string on top had tilted a little, too!  I could let that go, because after all, I am a novice photographer! LOL
I had already decided to make a change with the flower, too.  I should have used the brown polka dotted paper too! Oh, well. I decided to leave it alone, and add it to a pile of layouts that need some special attention. (Luckily, there is only one other layout in this pile!)
This morning I went to one of my favorite blogs, Making Memories. I noticed there was a design challenge, by Laura Vegas. I thought this was my opportunity to go ahead, and make the changes, today. Not wait until next time! Who knows, when I would get to it!!
So thank you Making Memories, because now my layout can go into the family album, with the completed pages!

Pebbles DT (Using your Scraps) Challenge

"Giggle: the sound of a happy heart"This layout was featured on the Pebbles Blog, last Friday.  Christa, challenged the design team to create a project, using your "scraps." Usually, I do tend to throw away the leftover scraps, after completing a layout. If it is a large piece, then I will keep it. I file the scraps with the rest of the paper, or within the same manufacturer. I simply do not have enough room to file every scrap. I wish I did! I would probably not cringe, each time one of my little ones, came into my room for a full sheet of 12x12! (Smile)
Besides the cardstock, every piece on the above layout is a scrap piece. I created my Scallop Flowers , out of leftover patterned paper that I saved. The back of the paper was blue, and I thought this color would be fantastic for the flowers. It also worked well with the rest of the page. I adore this photo of my girls. It was a casual evening, and love that I was able to catch Macie in the middle of her "trademark", giggle.

I love this page of my two favorite girls, but am sad that I have used all of my Skipping Along paper! However, I guess that was the point of the challenge! 
Now, if you have been holding onto "scraps", I am sure there is a project begging to be created!
