One of my favorite items to make at Christmas time, are homemade gifts. Today, I am sharing two quick, and easy ideas that you can use to package holiday treats. They are great as stocking stuffers, a fun surprise for your children, teacher's gifts, or just because. On the Bella Blog the designers have shared fabulous ideas that will sure to give you inspiration!
My first project uses glassine bags that I used to tuck in cookies. These would be perfect for neighbor's gifts. too.
Glassine Treat Cookie Bags
I love using these bags in my mini books, so I always have a few on hand. I love that they are translucent so you can see a bit of what is inside. To add a festive touch, I used Christmas Wishes by Bella Blvd. I love the mix of bright colors, and who would not want to receive this bright package?
details:
Now, you know how much I love my Cuttlebug! So, I added texture to the bags by using a snowflake embossing folder. Just a simple, and subtle technique that can add a bit more to your project. Originally, I was going with a white snowflake, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone. Who says a snowflake has to be white? (; The snowflake die is bold, so I went with the Quadrant paper that has designs on a smaller scale. It looked much better on this bold embellishment.
A white doily was placed in the center of the snowflake, and then I used a circle sticker from the Journaling Sticker sheet to layer on top. I added my sentiment by inking it on white cardstock cut into a banner. Then securing it in place with a mini clothespin, and red twine.
For my second project, I altered acryclic ornaments found at the craft store. Now, remember the Gumball ornaments from last year? {Click here to see the original post.} I used them again this year, but filled them with skittles. The ornaments are inexpensive, and make a fabulous presentation with sweet treats inside.
Christmas Altered Acrylic Ornaments
Cute little ornaments that will be sure to put a smile on a child's face. For my main embellishemnt I used the Santa Claus from the Cute Cuts paper from Christmas Wishes. I added a bit of detail by adding glitter to the beard, and some paper piecing detail to give him a merry look.
details:
I added a red brad for his nose, holly to his hat, and a star for a few details.
I inked my sentiment again on a banner shape, and adhered it to his beard. Since his beard is glittered I used my hot glue to secure in place.
One last look at this sweet filled ornament:
Around the ornament I did add a bit of a border from the Journaling Sticker Sheet. One border was perfect for three of these. On the top I finished each of them with tulle, twine, and pom pom ribbon.
I cannot wait to make more of these for my daughter's friends. They may also end up as a teacher's gift, too.
Thank you for stopping by my blog, and do not forget to check out all the amazing projects featured on Bella Blvd.
