S is for Santa {Crate Paper Peppermint Collection}

Good morning!

Today, I thought I would share the mini album I created for CHA. This was my first project for Crate Paper, and I was so happy to work with the Peppermint Collection! It just screams Christmas, and the colors are absolutely gorgeous. You also might know that Christmas is my favorite time of year! If you are a big fan of Crate, as I am, then you may have already caught a glimpse(; 

Now, I will admit, it can take me anywhere from a week, to two weeks to complete a mini. However, due to the date of CHA, I had exactly two days to complete this book! I love creating mini albums, so even though time was not on my side, I had so much fun creating it! It did give me ideas on my Mini Album for December. I do not think I will be creating another December Daily this year. I think I am going to try a different approach. We shall see what I end up creating, but for now here is the mini:

"S is for Santa" 



Now, for the cover I kept it pretty simple. I utilized a negative chipboard element,from the letter S, as my main embellishment on the cover. Of course, I covered the entire surface in coarse glitter, and backed it with patterned paper.

A simple punched tag holds the remainder of my title cover.


How cute is that chipboard Santa Claus?? I added some tinsel glitter to his beard, and suit. I also used one of my favorite stamps on one of the Peppermint Accent Cuts. (The stamped image reads, Do Not Open Until December 25th)

Of course, the main subject are my darling kids wearing their traditional Santa Hats! All the photos in this mini are from Christmas 2010. I definitely need to remember to capture photos of Steve, and I, too.

I love, love this photo of Macie. She is so funny, and I remember that each time we kept putting on a candy cane onto the tree, she would snag it! On the opposite side is a glassine envelope that I purchased from an etsy shop. Love this size, because it is perfect to tuck in a tag with journaling.

Here is the back of the envelope. A simple candy cane dieuct dressed with glitter.

Here I used a vellum page as filler page in between the two photo pages.

Back of the envelope with stamped gingerbread, and simple button in the center of each one. There is also a jingle bell tied around the pin. It is off to the right side, dangling!


I always take photos of my kids holding Christmas ornaments as they decorate the tree.

I am not certain what my Macie is looking at in this photo. I believe it was raining, and she was looking at the rain hitting the windows. In any case, I love it just the same. I am not a photographer, but I am so happy to find sweet surprises as this one. 

I do not think I have to say anything about these two pages! LOL 

When I saw this photo of Gabi, and Sammi, I knew it had to be the ending. Sammi was a special gift this past Christmas, so I knew he needed to be documented, too. Merry Christmas {Fa La La La} Duetica

Good morning!
I have another card to share with you using the Duetica Riley Font. This font is definitely one I enjoy working with on my cards. After completing my mini album, I was left with wonderful leftover scraps! I was able to complete this card pretty quickly with the elements left behind. I love creating Christmas Projects, and it can be any month for me! I love the Peppermint Collection from Crate Paper. For me, it is filled with elements of a traditional Christmas. Love the colors!

Trick or Treat {Duetica Tin Whistle Font}

Naughty or Nice {Fancy Pants St. Nick}

"Naughty or Nice"

Happy Monday!
My favorite time of year is Christmas, and love the St. Nick Collection by Fancy Pants. It is full of traditional images with a bit of vintage feel to the entire collection! I love this photo of my cute kids! I hope they do not tire of the traditional Santa Hats, as we deck the halls!

a few details:

Along the photo I created a banner out of snowflakes, and of course added some glitter to make them shine! The main snowflake is layered with a embossed snowflake, that I cut from the 12x12 transparency. Did you know you can use your Creative Memories Circle cutter on this material?? I did not, or maybe I have forgotten! LOL I knew my punches would not work. {I have tried this before, with not a stellar result.} I have been using my Sizzix dies, but now love that my cutter can give me more options on sizes.

I love this image of Santa, and believe this image is also available in the embellishment assortment. I added more glitter on his hat, beard and the trim along his suit. Of course, at the bottom of their feet for an added detail.

I used a journaling card to journal part of a Santa song. Finished it with some simple string.

My Mind's Eye 2 Year Blog Birthday

July has been a month of excitement, and a calendar filled with daily activities. Now, my children have also attended summer school, so this added another detail to the calendar. Note to self: please do not enroll the kids in summer school next year! LOL Of course, I am thinking about myself, because my kids have truly enjoyed every day! Especially, Roman. This summer he decided to take up a new activity, learning how to play the electric guitar! It has been so much fun watching him practice, and ask questions each day. Tomorrow, is his last day of guitar practice at summer school. However, I will have a SURPRISE for him after school. He will continue his guitar lessons, and he will be very Surprised! 

Now, I also like surprises, and I was very Surprised to find this Sunshine Collection in my box. I knew it would be perfect for this photo of Roman. The yellow in the papers just makes you happy! My son does make me very happy, and he truly has a heart of gold! 

This is one of the pages I created for CHA,and I am looking forward to creating with the entire Lost & Found 2 Collection:

details:

I love the gold, and black combination on these papers! The plaid is my favorite! Since it was a page about my sweet Roman, I chose to create circle medallions as my embellishments. I layered each one, and accented with stars. Now, the layered brad embellishments in the package, can be taken apart. Do not be afraid of mixing, and matching to create your own unique embellishment!


I really liked the notebook scallop border, and used it to anchor my photo. This paper had a vintage feel to it, so I decided to use a filmstrip diecut along the bottom. I originally was going to layer a different piece of patterned paper underneath each window. However, the one color of patterned paper seemed to be all my page needed.

So Tweet {Fancy Pants Summer's End}

Well, it is beginning to feel like summer is coming to a close so quickly. Anyone else feeling that way? Of course, I have a few things going on right now, so my days seem shorter at the moment.

Fancy Pants has done it again with a new collection that is perfect for documenting your summer photos. It is called Summer's End, and the color palette is made up of soft tones. Definitely not bold colors, which is why I chose to use the simple doily as my main embellishments on this page.

I do not know why, but when I first saw this collection, I knew I wanted to create a border of different size doilies. I decided to build them across the middle of the page, underneath Macie's sweet photos. {Note: I have been sharing lots of girl pages lately, but will have a boy scrapbook page on Friday. Roman, decided to remind me of this today.}

a few details:

I used the Cuttlebug Retro Kitchen Embossing Folder to add a more dainty touch to the diecut doilies. I really love this folder. Of course, one of my go to embellishments is the paper butterfly. A simple stitch in the middle of each one, completed them.

 
In the centers of the diecut doilies are premade doilies that are included in the Summer's End Embellishment Pack. I did handcut a few too from one of the patterned papers.

For my journaling I chose to use this strip of words on the rub on accessory sheet. It expressed my sentiment perfectly. I love the birds in this paper collection. They are so sweet!


Here, I layered two butterflies together, and adhered them to a journal diecut from the collection. I believe I cut it from one of the 3x3 cards. I added a rubon underneath the butterfly, for a simple last detail.

just for fun {Scrapbook Trends "Get Inked" video}

 

Hi, everyone!

While I was online last night, I came across this video on the Create Blog.
It is featuring a new magazine by Scrapbook Trends, Stamping. What makes this video so special?? Do you see the home decor item in the left hand corner? Well, that is my project of my sweet girls! How fun is that? I loved that frame so much, and was thankful to have it published in the magazine. If I remember correctly, I do have my first layout in there, too. So thank you, Scrapbook Trends! I will definitely need to share this video with my girls!

Hocus Pocus {Fancy Pants Oct.31}

Today, it is all about Spooky Inspiration on the Fancy Pants Blog. The Pocket Chicks are sharing their haunting projects using the new Oct. 31 collection.
Now, I will admit besides Christmas, Halloween is a close second! 

Here is the page I created with this daring line:

Doesn't Gabi make a cute witch? She has already informed me that she will not be dressing up this year. Well, we will see what I can do about that. LOL
You can see that these papers have all the traditional Halloween colors, with a little bit of vintage. I had so much fun creating this page, and hopefully you do not think I went overboard with the spooky embellishments! I could have kept on adding to this page. {*wink wink*}

a few details:

Here I used one of the 3x3 journal cards to anchor my cluster of embellishments. The white note patterned paper was cut from another journaling card to add a decorative edge. I love finding new ways to use the cards, and almost never use them as they are intended. A simple button, and string embellished the chipboard witch's hat.


What is a Halloween layout without a spooky tree, and a few scattered pumpkins? I also use my favorite itty bitty bat punch to embellish the white pumpkin. 

At the top of my page, I cut this poem from one the journal sheets, and ran it through the Cuttlebug Spiderweb embossing folder. Kind of gives it an eerie feel! LOL Of course, the spider was an afterthought, but I think he found a home!

ABC & 123 {Fancy Pants Off To School}

Happy Monday!It is CHA {Craft & Hobby Association} time, and the release of all the fabulous new scrapbook releases!!! I know there are few items already on my wish list. Do you have your favorites?

Today, on the Fancy Pants Blog the designers are sharing their gorgeous pages using the new school collection by Fancy Pants. Now I am in love with all four of their releases! However, Off to School stole my heart! I love, love the apple patterned paper! This collection has a retro feel, but with all the basics of back to school! If you have school age children, this collection should be one of your CHA must haves!

The following page is of my sweet Macie. I love taking photos of my children after the school year has ended. It is amazing to see how much they have grown in such a short amount of time! I created seven new pages this past week, but I think this one is my favorite! Maybe, it is because I can remember how difficult it was to get one picture of Macie standing still!

Anyone that knows her, understands that she is never one to sit, or stand for more than a minute! Of course, it was my idea with the apple. However,I will let you in on a secret. This apple is the understudy! Macie took a bite out of the first one, and we could not stop laughing! I ran into the house asking my husband for another one, and I could hear Macie screaming that she ate the prop! It was a funny moment, indeed! I simply snapped about a hundred photos of her, and was so happy to see this one! I can see the sparkle in her eyes, and how small she is in the photo. She is my last baby to graduate from Kindergarten, and it simply makes so sad.

Okay, enough talk, onto the page:
ABC & 123 

{I think in this photo, she is about to throw the apple in the air!} It does not matter, because I simply love that her personality shines through. As you can see the papers are absolutely gorgeous, and the embellishments could not be more perfect! Every item on this page is from this collection, minus the two added office paper clips!

a few details: 

This paper is absolutely adorable, and I could not resist using the Cuttlebug Dot folder for added texture! It is my favorite patterned paper from the collection! I am going to have to a few sheets on hand! 

Here I created a cluster with the journal cards, and the fabulous OFF to school embellishments. The ruler is chipboard, and the apple is from the glitter cuts.

In the Embellishment pack you are going to find cute little math facts, that are perfect details to your page! 

On the left hand side of the page, I layered my letter "B" to one of the 3x3 cards from the collection, and of course, gave it texture, by using an embossing folder. This is layered again, on a mini notebook paper, and anchored in place with two black brads. The paper clip is from my office stash, and works perfect as an extra detail.

I had so much fun creating this page, and I have a few more photos of Macie to scrapbook. So do not be surprised, if you see this line a lot from me! Fancy rocked this line, and you have to hop over to {here} to see the inspiration from the design team!
