Happy Saturday, and Welcome to the Elmer's Craft & Tell Blog Hop! I am so excited to be a part of this hop! Along the way, you are going to find amazing projects by some very talented crafters!
Now, you should have arrived from the fabulous, and oh so very talented, Amy Heller's blog! If not {click here}, to begin at the beginning. To be eligible for the 4 Fabulous giveaways, you will need to leave a comment on each blog.(:
Now, this was my first time working with Elmer's & Xacto products. I can tell you that I found many, that have become fast favorites.
For this hop, I created four projects using Elmer's adhesive, and especially the X-ACTO healing mat with X-Acto knife.
For my first project, I created a "Friendship" card.
All of the lovely layers of paper, buttons, heart charm were adhered with Elmer's Glue Dots. I wrapped the beautiful red ribbon around the entire card. I secured the ends with Elmer's Tacky Glue. This is a very strong adhesive, and I love how it performed on fabric!
detail:
Here is a closeup of about seven layers that are included in this paper bloom.I accented around the circle with a small chipboard flower, and secured the string with Elmer's glue dot. I really love how the glue dots are on one wide strip. I prefer this instead of having the glue dots on a dispenser.
Then I noticed I had a few scraps after creating the card, so I made this:
I love creating flowers, especially from yummy pink felt. The Elmer's Tacky Glue was fantastic to adhere all the lovely layers together.
Every time I work on a project, I have a self healing mat underneath. There is also my exacto knife, never too far away. I loved the X-Acto's mat, and the craft knife! Of course, it did not hurt that it was in my favorite color, pink. The mat, and knife came in handy for projects like the above. The tag is created with a Jenni Bowlin chipboard banner, so the craft knife was needed to trim the excess patterned paper away! Leaving me with nice clean edges.
I love inking on my projects, and here I did a bit on this tag. Simple, but so pretty. Wrap this tag with some luscious red ribbon, and you have a tag that is perfect for a friend's gift.
We received the foam board in our box, and it was perfect for creating a card. This foam board will be perfect for teacher's Birthdays, with plenty of room for the students to sign. However, as soon as I saw it, I saw a flag. Perfect for creating some Fourth of July decor!
JULY 4th
I first covered the front surface with glitter paper. Then cut 1" strips, using a ruler, and my X-ACTO craft knife. I used the tacky glue to adhere the strips. Sometimes, I cannot find a strong adhesive when working with glitter paper. In this case, the tacky glue proved to be a strong hold!
details:
For my main embellishment, I created a ribbon flower using a diecut Silhouette shape. I cut it out of white cardstock, and then applied a little shine, by dusting with diamond dust glitter. I stacked three glittered flowers together using the Elmer's Tacky Glue, and glue dots in a few spots. I picked up the silver garland from my local craft store, and when I cut the label, I really liked the circular shape. So I simply adhered to my white, glittered square with, you guessed it, Elmer's Tacky Glue. This adhesive has a very strong hold, and is so easy to use.
Then I adhere two red ribbons underneath, adhering with the tacky glue. For the finishing details, I added three white glitter stars, hanging from white string. White glittered buttons were used to adhere the centers, and held in place with Elmer's glue dots. Now, I am ready to celebrate! Can you not picture this in the foyer, or simply in a white tray, on your Fourth of July table? So easy to create, and will be perfect to celebrate the red, white, and blue!
The oval label is cut from the inside of a diecut frame, cut with the X-acto craft knife. Love the sparkly of different textures, and layers on this star bloom!
My third project is a scrapbook page:
Girl Talk
I am so glad I had printed these photos last year. My hard drive crashed last year, and I lost a lot of photos. I was going to reprint these to a different size, but noticed yesterday, these photos were lost! I am so happy to have these of my little girl. She loved the red phone booth at Legoland, and enjoyed a ten minute conversation. I am not sure who was on the other side! LOL
The phone circle element is layered on top of a chipboard frame. I covered the frame with a newsprint paper, and using my X-Acto knife, I was able to get clean edges.
I love buttons on my projects, and here I adhered this blue button with a glue dot. To create this page, I used the Elmer's tape runner, and I think I mentioned this yesterday, but it is now my FAVORITE tape runner! It has a very strong hold, and the adhesive does not jam as you are using it. It applied flawlessly, and once you adhere something, it will stay put!
My final project is a mini album, documenting my daughter's love for Sammy. It is all about a little girl, and her dog. Today, I am sharing my album cover, and one of the inside pages. (I will share the rest of the mini soon.)
Puppy Love Mini Album:
I love, love creating mini albums. Now, the first thing I like to do is create the cover. This is by far, my favorite part. Yes, it can be challenging to create the cover, and have something on the back side, yet to create. This is the impatient side of me, but my cover is always the first element I create.
I have been wanting to use this denim album for awhile. This hop helped me get started on this project. With the tacky glue, I knew it would be perfect adhesive to adhere paper to the fabric. I was right. It also proved again, to be perfect for layering the pink bloom.
detail of the cover:
Here is a peek at one of the inside pages:
