American Idol Sighting {Aaron Kelly}

Last week, I took the children to Legoland. We had such a fun filled day, and the kids were happy to spend the day with friends, too. I was surprised that the lines were not that long, and the weather was wonderful. Of course, I took lots of snapshots! However, the highlight, was what occurred at the end of the day.
We left the park at closing, and decided to have dinner at Outback. (my children love this restaurant) As we were seated, I glanced at the booth across from us. I glanced, and then glanced back down at the menu. However, I immediately glanced again, and realized it was American Idol Contestant, Aaron Kelly seated across from us!! We are big fans of American Idol! Aaron Kelly was one of our favorites! I cannot remember how many times Gabriela voted for him.(I did like Big Mike, too) So I asked my friend, Robbie, if it was really Aaron Kelly??? If I remember correctly, she did ask them. LOL Aaron was having dinner with his mom, and brother. Robbie, asked if he would not mind taking a few snapshots with our girls. At this point, the girls are besides themselves. They were giggling, and in disbelief. (Pretty much the reaction you would expect of little girls!) We did not want to cause more commotion, so we waited until he was ready to leave, and took a few snapshots outside!
Aaron was very gracious, and ever so polite. He answered all of the children's questions, and signed autographs! (I got one too!!) He was here visiting his brother, and getting ready for the summer tour. He did tell me he will be working on a Country Album! I was excited to hear this, because I am a Country girl at heart!

At this point, Roman just thought he was cool! (Check out his expression.....priceless) Aaron signed Roman's flip flop!! Really????
It was a fantastic ending to such a great day spent with fabulous friends, fabulous rides, and lots of laughter!!! This is one day the kids will not forget!!!

Snapshots of Summer Mini Album {Pink Paislee}

Hello, my friends! It is a hot day today, and a busy one. (I am supposed to be on a summer vacation!) It was a busy day, filled with errands! Roman received his expander for his top teeth, so he is extremely uncomfortable, today. He has not wanted me far away from his side. He fell asleep, so I am taking this opportunity to post snapshots of  my Summer Mini Album. I used the 365 degress Collection by Pink Paislee, throughout this book. This collection screamed summer, laughter, and fun! The paper, and the embellishments, made it so easy to create this small book. (It has been in our local scrapbook store, Timeless Treasures, so please excuse any imperfections you might notice) (:
"Snapshots of Summer" Mini Album
In this album, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite summer moments of my children. I take so many snapshots, it was difficult to decide on just a few.  I do plan on adding a few more pages.

(On the inside cover, I misted the entire page with Tattered Angels, Sunflower Spray. I use Stazon ink, most of the time when I stamp, so the ink did not bleed. I do plan on writing a few sentences on this page.



The fabric flowers are from Jillibean Soup. I layered a couple of them together, and finished them, with a button, by Making Memories. I used Diamond Glaze on the cork button embellishemnt by Pink Paislee, to give it a glossy finish.

I added the metal embellishment from the On Holiday by Girls Paperie.  The colors went well with this collection. The "play" stamp is one of my favorites. I have used this stamp so many times!

This was such a fantastic experience for her. It was an adventure she will never forget.

Macie's last day of Preschool

Today, was Macie's last day of preschool. (Well, technically, yesterday was supposed to be her last day!) 
You may recall, that I have mentioned, how much I love summer. I look forward to the lazy days, and spending time with my children. Well, it seems, I decided to go on a "vacation", a little earlier than planned!
The kids and I, had lunch with friends yesterday. It was about 1pm, and one of my friend's daughter, begins singing a "Bumblebee" song. Well, as soon as she started singing, Gabi, and I look at one another in shock! I realized that Macie, missed her last day of preschool! More importantly, her end of the year picnic, and singalong! I could not believe that I forgot about this special day! This was Macie's last day of preschool, ever! I was so distraught over this the entire day. As I am writing this, even more so. I do not pretend to be a perfect Mother, because I am not. I just try, and be the best Mom for my kids. However, I am so upset with myself! Macie, (I know is only five), but she was not sad. She kept telling me, that it was okay. We could still say goodbye to her teacher, on the next day. So we went today, and Macie took her teacher these: 

 

Of course, I walked in with my head down, so embarrassed about it all! They understood, and were happy to see her. They invited her to be a part of today's singalong! Macie was happy,her teacher was happy, and I am slowly getting there! 

Macie saying goodbye to her teacher, Mrs. Duval. I loved her teacher, because she was so patient, creative, nurturing, and loving! We will miss her, and the preschool. It was an amazing experience for all of my children. (I also met one of my very best friends, here at this school.)
Well, now we are "officially" on summer vacation! I do not believe anyone else will be missing an event, anytime soon!  LOL To make certain of this, I ordered myself one of these! I have always used this planner. However, in the past few months, I have tried to get "rid" of paper, and rely solely on my phone. (Obviously, this did not work!) I had Macie's picnic entered into my phone, with two alerts scheduled. However, this does not work if the sound is turned off!  LOL (My kids are always borrowing my phone for games, so I am always reminding them to turn down the volume.) I am a visual learner, so I am going back to my Momagenda! 
Something else that I have recently purchased, were this yummy rolls of ribbon:    
They are by Amercian Crafts, and are sold by the yard!! I did have a few colors on hand ,but was so happy to see the other colors! These just make me happy, and I cannot wait to use them on a project! They were a little on the expensive side, so I will have to hide them from the girls! (They love creating with my ribbon, or using them for their hair!) I found this ribbon at Timeless Treasures, so hurry on in, before they are all gone!

Happy Father's Day {Pebbles DT}

 

Good morning! This  card went up on the Pebbles Blog today. I created this card for my sweet husband for Father's Day. I cannot express, how amazing he is, as a Father! Steven, has a job that is very demanding, in terms of time. He rarely has a day off. However, he walks in through the door each night, and he is completely involved! He is helping them with homework, playing outside, helping with dinner, and simply having fun! I am so blessed to have him as a parenting partner! The kids adore him, and will tell you, that he is the Best Daddy, ever! He is simply our glue, and through challenging times, he is there to hold us together!

  
I picked the Tree House Collection for his Father's Day card, because of the bold colors! I also thought the three owls were so adorable, and represented the number of children we have together! (I wonder if he will understand this?) LOL The owls are rubons, and applying them to the card, was effortless!
(I know we love that!!)
Steve loves to have snapshots of the kids, so I created a photo card for him. I tucked, a snapshot of each of the kids, inside the card.

This card, took me about thirty minutes to complete, but it will be a card he will treasure for a long time!

Last day of school

Today, was the last day of school for Gabi, and Roman! I cannot believe I have a sixth grader! Macie has two more days of preschool, and then we will celebrate her final day! They are simply growing so quickly! The snapshot above, is of Gabi, and her close friends, in one final hug! (Gabi is the one, with the pink backpack) 

I walked into Roman's class, and I guess this is, his way of saying goodbye! 

I am so happy that they both adjusted so well, to their new school. Gabi was fine from the start! She has such an outgoing personality! Roman, is such a sweetheart, and tends to be a little shy. However, they each had a fantastic experience!  I knew it was okay, when Roman, loved going to school, each and every single day!

I  can see the confidence in Roman's eyes, and this fills my heart! In Gabi,I see a young girl emerging! I am so proud of both of them!!! 
Roman may be a little sad, that we are on summer vacation, but Mommy is happy to have sometime to slow things down a bit! I love the lazy days of summer, and look forward to days of Play!
Time for me to go! I have been busy the last few days working on a scrapbook for a customer. I hope to have it done today, so we can Play tomorrow!

Lucky No. seven {On Holiday Girls Paperie}

Good morning!  Only four more days, and we are officially on Summer Vacation! (not that I am counting or anything) LOL I hope you enjoyed a nice weekend. We did not have any scheduled events, so it was nice to relax, and simply play! On Saturday, the kids and I, went to IHop for a late breakfast, and then spent sometime at the park. We did meet Steve for dinner and a movie, later that evening. We tried a new restaurant, and it was excellent. The kids loved it. It was a Brazilian restaurant, and the waiters brought the main courses to your table. They cut the meat right in front of you. It was quite entertaining, and we will definitely be back. We finished the night, by watching Karate Kid.I thought it was fabulous! 
I found some quiet time , after watching the Lakers loss,): and created the following layout. I used the  On Holiday Line, by Margie Romney Aslett . I used a few scraps left over from This card, and the layout came together quite easily. I used my card, as a sketch, to begin the layout.
I have been wanting to scrapbook the following snapshot. Although, there are a couple of distractions in the photo, it is still very important. This snapshot is my sweet son on his Seventh Birthday! Now, you may noticed that there are only six balloons, instead of seven! One flew away, as I was trying to take photos of an energetic boy!

After handcutting my denim flowers, I decided to handcut a few stars, out of denim fabric, too. I am loving denim at the moment, and the handmade feel it gives my pages! I added a cardstock circle, and a brad to add layers, to the centers of the stars.

Play Date {Girls Paperie} By Margie Romney Aslett

At CHA, one of my favorite lines, was the Girls Paperie by Margie Romney Aslett. I loved the distressed edges, the floral prints, and the soft patterns of this paper collection.This line was perfect for snapshots of my girls, and I was happy to see it at Timeless Treasures! I believe it has sold out twice already, and I was glad to find some of the fantastic embellishments that went with this collection. I had taken a bunch of snapshots of Macie with her doll. She loves them, and everyday there is a new "favorite" doll. I am finally realizing that she is growing so quickly, so I wanted to capture those sweet moments, of being a "girl." I used one of the snapshots, I had taken to create the following layout:

A few details:
 
I brought in denim fabric onto this page. The paper felt worn in, and distressed, so I decided to create a denim flower. I do not have the right attachment to cut denim on my Cricut, so I simply cut them by hand. As you can see this flower has six different layers. I love what layers can do, to an embellishment! (Of course, you need lots of pop dots, and glue dots!) LOL On the large scallop layer, I used my scallop punch and cut this from natural cardstock. I brushed the entire scallop with Teresa Collins Shimmerz, and it matched this paper line perfectly. I added more detail to the scallop, by piercing holes around the outer edge.

The word "Play" was cut from the font Mary Jane by Quickutz.(Again, I used natural cardstock) I then used the following supplies to finish them: 

I first applied a thin coat of Teresa Collins Shimmerz Pearl. I allowed them to dry for a few minutes. It really did not take long for the letters to dry. Then using a sponge dauber, I applied Memento's Rich Cocoa, along the edges, bringing in some of the color to the inside. I find this type of dauber gives me better control in inking my embellishements.

Closeup detail of the borders: The first border is a sticker from the collection, the second border is stamped with the Girls Paperie Stamo Set, and the second is punched from cardstock. (I applied the same technique to this border, as I did the letters.)
One last detail:

This paper line is absolutely fantastic, and I hope to find more time to create with her beautiful lines!

"You are my sunshine" Butterfly Collage {Pebbles DT}

Good morning! Today, on the Pebbles Blog it is Decor8! Our challenge was to create a home decor item. Of course, I went with a frame to create my project.  I love picture frames, and finding new ways to alter them! I was inspired by two things on my project. One was the scallop butterfly, I designed for my "Butterfly kisses" layout:

You can see a peek of it, on the left hand side. (I still cannot share the entire layout, but hopefully soon)  
The second project was this. If you have not seen Christine Middlecamp's Embellished Paper Doily Project, definitely spend some time on her blog! I love the Die-Cut Lace Tags by Martha Stewart! The way Christine used them on her project, is simply stunning!  Her blog is always full of inspiration, and gorgeous projects. Her details are just so creative, and full of layers. I love layers, and love the way she builds upon each one of the layers she creates!
I combined my love for butterflies,altered frames, and created this butterfly collage:
