Happy Wednesday! I wanted to pop in and let you know my computer has decided to freeze up on me! On top of this, both of my camera lenses will be sent out soon for repair. I am not sure when I will be able to post again. (posting this from my iPhone) If I can figure out, how to post images to my husband's computer, I might have something for tomorrow. (luckily, I have prior photos of a project) Just in case, I cannot post, I hope you and your family have a joyous, and blessed Easter!

{just another} ordinary day

I am a big fan of Jillibean Soup! (I love the quality of their papers, and unique embellishments!) I am in love with their Chicken Noodle Collection, and I had enough of this paper, to join this challenge, Free For All Friday Sketch.
You definitely want to follow the link, and take a look at what others designed for this challenge, too. This is the sketch we worked with:

I enjoyed the sketch, and was able to scrapbook two more snapshots of my darling son!

Have you tried the Coredinations Cardstock? This is my first time to work with this paper, and I can tell you, that I love it! It was easy to sand, and the texture on this paper is fabulous. It was perfect for this collection of papers!
details:

I added machine stitching to the page, to give it more texture. Then rolled the paper downward, and tore, at intervals. I also sanded down the chipboard alphas to give the page a more worn in look.

This cute little chick is part of the Farm Fun Set. I wanted to give him a little bit of fluff, so I used the flocking powder by Doodlebug. Hopefully, you can tell that the yellow in the small jar, is a little too dark. By adding some white flocking powder to the yellow, it lighten my color, to the perfect shade! By mixing colors, just as you would paint, you can achieve that color, that you think you do not have!

"Glittered Paper Roses Tutorial" (Little Light Studio)

Good morning! Kayla Aimee saw my Valentine's Frames in the Live Pink Gallery. She asked, if I would not mind creating a tutorial on how I created the "glittered paper roses." It was very nice of her to ask me, and I was happy to do it! Mix and Match Monday (Pebbles DT)

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was wonderful. We did have a few bumps, the last couple of days. Gabi only made it to one day of her competition in Long Beach. She became really sick on Saturday, after the competition. We ended up taking a trip to Kids Doc, just to make sure it was not anything too serious. She is feeling much better, and luckily was able to go to school today! 
Today, on the Pebbles Blog, it is Mix and Match Monday. Our challenge was to use different Pebbles collections to create a project.
I chose to work with Lil Miss, and the Linnie Bell to create a scrapbook page. The snapshot on this page, is from 2006! I wish my little Macie was still this tiny. On this day, we were all at a park. I was trying to take a few pictures of my children. (Steven too) However, Macie was not very cooperative.  LOL Once she was in Daddy's arms, she was all laughs, and smiles!

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill, Patterned Paper: Linnie Bell Pearl, and Lil Miss, Sticker letters, Lil Miss, Chipboard: Pebbles Chips, Sticker Flowers: Lil Miss, Candy Dots: Pebbles, Stamp: Sandy Lion, Buttons: Making Memories. Bumblebee punch Martha Stewart, Other: string, and Machine stitching
Few details:

These flowers are stickers, and I simply embellished the centers with buttons. These buttons are by Making Memories. They are the first style of buttons I purchased! This was so long ago, when Michaels first began to carry their product!  I wanted to add some movement, so I kind of looped my string in and, around the flowers. The bumblebee punch is by none other than, Martha Stewart! I love her punches, and seriously will never feel like I own enough of them! (Did you notice I machine stitched the bottom of the page!) Feeling a little bit more comfortable each time(:

 

So cute! I found a place where you can buy it online, right Here! With the beautiful Spring weather in full swing, this punch is a must have in your inventory! On my page, I punched a yellow, and a brown bumblebee. Then layered them together with a little bit of adhesive. I just bent the brown wings upward to give them dimension. I finished them with a candy dot by Pebbles!
  
I will admit that this punched out circle was already decided for me!  LOL I only had one sheet of this patterned paper left. However, I already had punched out a circle! So I decided to make a home for the bumblebee. I layered a piece of the Linnie Bell pearl papeer underneath. I used a die by Quickutz, to embellish the outside of the circle. Added some handstitching to finish! (The scallop circle is a punch also by Martha Stewart.)

Pebbles Blog (Spring Challenge)

Scrapbook Trends (For the Home)

Good morning!! Scrapbook Trends released a preview of one of their upcoming magazines, on Facebook. It is called "For The Home", (I think you can see this in the picture above, lol). I believe it is their May issue, and I am so excited to say that one of my Pebbles projects is in this book. This is my first publication with this magazine. (It might be my only one!!! LOL) Seriously, I was so happy to have this project picked up for their magazine. This project was designed for Pebbles, but there is a reason why I created it. I really try and scrapbook with a purpose in mind. When I say this, I mean that I do not create, just to create. Obviously, my pages are documentation of our life. However, home decor projects, minis, cupcake toppers, cards, they are created with a purpose in mind. (I hope this makes sense to you.)
Anyway, this Cupcake Frame, was created because, not only do I love cupcakes, (Who does not?? Well, except my healthy husband!! LOL) It was made during a transition time in our lives. My children and I needed something to look at, everyday, to remind us that "life is sweet." It was a bright spot in our tiny apartment kitchen in Texas! 
I cannot wait to receive this back, because it will find a home in our kitchen, once again! Oh, my project, that I am speaking about is on the above cover(: Now I am not familiar with the magazine process, so the cover could possibly change. Not sure, but nevertheless, it did make it into the book. When I have a copy of the actual magazine, I will have to share a story with you! LOL

"Country Boy" Jillibean Soup

Yesterday, provided a little bit of a challenge for us. Gabi had a minor accident as she was preparing to go to school! We ended up at the doctor's office, (three hours later), my poor baby left with stitches, and a shot! She has a two day Cheer competition this weekend. Needless, to say, she will be unable to perform. Our doctor, has given her strict orders to not cheer, or be active in PE. She is okay with the PE portion! LOL However, she is so sad that she will not be there with her team. I would allow her to maybe stand, and kind of blend in with the other girls. Of course,  she could not do any stunting or tumbling. However, her team's routine is so intense, and moves so quickly, that I cannot take a risk of someone stepping on her. Her wound needs to heal. She will have one more competition to look forward to, if she follows the doctor's orders. Then there are also tryouts for the upcoming season. I cannot believe it is that time already! (Her wound is on her foot) She is a bit disappointed, and does not quite understand. However, her coach, was so understanding, and comforting. (Trust me, I was scared to tell her, that I emailed her! LOL) She is a competitive coach, and brings out the best in our girls. We are so lucky to have her. 
Today, I have a scrapbook page to share with you. I was so excited to receive my order of new Jillibean Soup papers. The paper collection I used on the  following layout is called Chicken Noodle. I think this one is my favorite of all their collections.  I have so many sweet snapshots, that I know I will be purchasing more of this collection.
I used one of my favorite snapshots of Roman, while we were in the Lone Star State. I remember this day clearly. It was on Halloween day, and he could not decide between a Farmer outfit, or an Air Force Pilot. So he decided that for a few hours he would dress up as a Farmer. Of course, I grabbed my camera! The reason I like this so much, is because in this snapshot, I can see his gentle soul. My son is a big boy. By this I mean, simply, he towers over his classmates, and he is truly 100% boy. However, beneath is tough exterior, is simply a gentle heart. He is so kind, and loving. Here I can see just how happy he is, to wear his farmer outfit, and proudly wear his Grandfather's Cowboy hat. He wanted to take his picture right in front of my Father's tractor. I love his expression, and the light in his eyes. Okay, I could go on about him! I am simply blessed to be called his Mom! 
 "When I Grow Up I Want to Be a Country Boy"

With the design of this layout, I wanted to kind of create the illusion that he was on a farm. Well, in actuality he was. LOL I decided to begin designing my page on the top, and build downward from there. I struggled with fitting my title. I did not want to give up the "space", on the top. Anyway, I hope this worked. I do like the overall feel of this page.
A few details:
 
I cannot tell you how much I love these corrugated Chipboard Alphas, by Jillibean!! You get a really nice amount of the letters in the package. I know sometimes, I get frustrated, if I can only spell one word out of the entire package! LOL  They come in kraft, white, and the green you see here! (Love them.) 
The brads are by Rusty Pickle. (Sad that they are no longer in business) The cute farmer's tag around the large brad is from Nikki Silvis. The Oct circle is actually the center of Jillibeans Journaling Sprouts. The wish tag is by the amazing, Tim Holtz. The kraft tag is by  Jillibean Soup! I love this new addition to their collection! As you can see, I did a little machine stitching along the bottom.

Yes, I machine stitched here too! I am trying to get comfortable with my machine! LOL I love all the imperfections! (: I used This stamp on the journaling block. The sticker letters are also by Jillibean. Love the font, and the style!

"Celebrating Birthdays" (My Mind's Eye) Part two

Happy Tuesday!! Yesterday, I shared the sweet Robot card for Roman's little classmate. Macie was invited to a party by her (cute) cheer teammate, so I created a card for her too. My little Macie told me, that I "make pretty things", after she took a peek at the lil Robot card. Well, that was all I needed to hear! LOL I decided to use the
Quite Contrary, Sweetie Pie by My Mind's Eye. 
"Make A Wish"

Few details:
 
The stamped sentiment, is really a dark brown. (Seems kind of black in this picture.) I heat embossed the sentiment with the Zing Embossing powder by American Crafts.
 
I pop dotted the strawberry diecut by MME, and then decided to add the string. I was having difficulty wrapping it around, because of the pop dots! LOL (I love my pop dots!) The string kept falling, and this is what I ended up with. It reminded me of something Laura had done recently to one of her pages. Check out her sweet page, here. (I believe I have linked it before, but it is worth taking a second peek!)
When I think of birthdays, pinwheels come to my mind. It could also be the beautiful weather we have been experiencing. I began with a 2 inch square to complete the pinwheel. Super easy to make, and makes for a fun embellishment on a card!
Last detail:
   
I used my remaining scraps from the card to cover this sweet treat! I simply added a preprinted title, and made another fun pinwheel. This pinwheel is made from a 3 inch square. Finished the pinwheel, with a stamped tiny tag.(Love my tag punch by Martha Stewart.)  The large pink brad is from Bazzill.  Speaking of brads, what do you do with your brads, once you open the package?? (I found a cute tiny container to solve my problem.) I will have to share this soon(:

"Celebrating Birthdays" (My Mind's Eye)

Hello, so happy that it is Monday! Did I just write this? LOL It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but it was fun. Well, I am sure it was for Roman and Macie. They both were invited to a birthday party this weekend. I usually buy the Birthday cards, but this time I decided to make them. I really do want to build up my card stash, and have some already created in a cute box. (Project added to my list!) I decided to use paper from My Mind's Eye. You probably  know I love their papers, and I do tend to hold onto them! However, I decided to use my stash, and see what I could come up with.
I decided to use the Lil Robots line, from My Mind's Eye, to create this card. I decided to include a sweet treat! What is a birthday, without sweets? 
"Happy Birthday lil Robot Card" 

 Here are a few details:

 
I pulled out my sewing machine, and stitched the top of the conversation bubble. Do not ask me what kind of stitch it is supposed to be?? LOL I liked it though, and thought it kind of looked like the antennae on the robot. The conversation bubble was cut from the Just Chillin Slice Cartridge.

What is a robot without gear? These little metal gears are by My Little Yellow Bicycle. I bought another package to have in my stash! 
With the scraps leftover I decided to cover an extra large chocolate treat.

PineCone Press Options Kit (Birthday Hoot)

Happy Friday! I wanted to share the cover of this month's Birthday Hoot Option Kit by PineCone Press Designs. If you purchase this kit, you will notice my little guy on the cover!  My BFF (Jeannette), informed me that they needed a few more projects for their new paper line. I scraplifted one of my previous layouts,(designed for Pebbles), and designed this page. I did not have time to photograph my layout, but I think you can see the page in the image above. 
As you may know, my son, has a sweet tooth like his Mom! I had to document his love for cupcakes with the Birthday Hoot line! Pretty clean lined page, but I love this sweet snapshot! Of course, we do not buy cupcakes everyday! I wish we did! LOL However, on this special day, my son received an "O", (outstanding), on his homework! We made a quick stop at my favorite bakery in town, Cinnamon Productions, after school! After his achievement, it was only fair that I reward him with a sweet treat! 
You may notice one more of my projects. I created a card, embellished with a scallop flower. Again, I did not have time to photograph! (Sigh)
This is my first publication, and happy that PineCone Press Designs, decided to use it in their book. So thanks PineCone!!
