"They say it's your birthday" Card-My Mind's Eye

This photo inspired the design of the following card. I loved the color combination of pink, and cream. I knew I wanted to create a card that would be simple, but full of soft details. This card is going to be perfect for one of my girlfriends!

Notice the small flowers on the pin? I was inspired by these stick pins by Jenni Bowlin.
I know we all have those fabulous Prima Flowers in the glass jars! I know I have many of them in my stash! Now, I have a beautiful and easy way to dress up the stick pins. I have only used them probably twice on a card. I did feel that the pins needed something else. They were just kind of there, not really serving a scrapbooking purpose!  LOL Tip: I used a tiny amount of glue (I used a hot glue gun), on the pin and slip the center of the flower through the pin. The flowers already had a tiny hole in their centers. Super simple, but makes a lovely statement!

Love you. (Pebbles Design Team-Notebook Paper Challenge)

Hello! I have been going non stop today! I am finally sitting down with my laptop, with the Bachelor in the background. LOL (I am not really that interested. I am just happy to be sitting!!)
I wanted to share the following layout that went up on the Pebbles Blog today.  Marielle challenged the team members to use "notebook paper", on our projects. This is what I designed for her challenge:

I originally was going to use one of my notebook stamps, to include my journaling on my page. However, I remembered that I had the notebook patterned paper in my stash. It really made the So Tweet Collection  pop!
Supplies:

Few details:

I love this texture ribbon from Pebbles! It made it so easy to scrunch it, into this design. I used two white buttons to secure the ends. Loved that it finished this detail!
Tip: I used glue dots to manipulate my ribbon, but a little bit of hot glue in certain areas, will help secure it permanently.
(Did you notice the word "love", is embossed? It is a sticker, and yes, stickers can be embossed too!!!)

Snapshot of the Week(Things I Love) ♥

Happy Friday!!! I really could use one of these about now! One of the things I miss most about Texas, is a Sonic Drive through! I love their diet cokes! I was extremely spoiled, because it was within walking distance. I was happy to know that once I returned to California, a new Sonic appeared. However, it is not convenient for the everyday occurrence! I have to go elsewhere for my diet coke indulgence! It is not the same! Sonic has the best ice, and absolutely love their styrofoam cups. (Your drink last so much longer!) I always order a diet coke, with "extra" ice! This is my specialty drink! LOL After the week I have had, I think a trip to Sonic after school, is in order. I can hear, Gabriela, say," Mom, we have diet coke at the house!" I will then say, "It is not the same, love!"

"Best of Friends" My Mind's Eye (Pink or Red) Challenge#8

This month's My Mind's Eye Challenge was to use either pink or red based on the following sketch:

 

As soon as I saw this sketch, (designed by Anna Stubbington), I knew I had to play along! It included one of my favorite elements on a page, scallops! (And the color, pink!) Perfect sketch to create more of my scallop flowers!
I use a snapshot of my girls, and paired it with the new Quite Contrary Collection, by My Mind's Eye.

Scallop flower happiness! (I know. I really, tried hard to stay away from the Swiss Dots folder, but I could not do it!) LOL

One of the things I love about My Mind's Eye, are these preprinted titles! It makes the design so much faster! Cute too!

 

I tied string around the label. and through the beautiful button! What a fantastic way to add more detail to a journaling label.
This button came from a package of Jenni Bowlin vintage style buttons:

These are absolutely beautiful, and complimented this paper perfectly! Love this new find!!!

"the big yellow bow" OC Allstars

This is my "tiny" cheerleader, Macie. As I look at this snapshot, I get tears in my eyes. She looks so small on this big stage. I actually was beginning to cry, as she was getting ready. I knew she was not feeling well, and she was a little more anxious that day. Right before she is about to perform, she looks out for me. Once she sees where I am, she bends down,(she and I exchange the "thumbs up" sign) and gets ready for the music to begin. (I love her little fists!) 
My girls had a cheer competition this past weekend. This was the first time that we attended this venue. So far, I think this was my favorite competition. Right before the girls were to perform, they walked down the "red" carpet, (trust me it was red!), and up the stairs onto this big stage. Then there is an emcee, and even a DJ. There is a section on the stage that is called the lounge! After the teams perform, they receive their scores on the spot. If you receive the highest score you get to go to the lounge and sit on these red sofas. You will never leave, unless another team outscores you. Fortunately, Macie's Tiny Team never had an opportunity to see the "red" couch. I do not think she would understand, if she was made to leave, if another team beat their score! LOL Macie is too young to fully understand  the scoring process. She is only five, but she loves to perform!

Unfortunately, I do not have any great shots of my daughter Gabriela! Macie's team has thirteen girls, and Gabi's team has like 100!  LOL It is a rather large team, and impossible to keep up with her. The team she is on this year, is outstanding!! (They received first place at this competition!!) They are really hard to beat! I have missed two of her competitions, due to scheduling conflicts this year. This makes me sad, but she knew that although, I was not physically with her, I am her biggest cheerleader!

 Because after all, her little sis, wants to be just like her!!!

Two (2) Cute... (created with Jillibean Soup)

Happy Tuesday to you! It is no secret that I love Jillibean Soup!  I have been wanting to create a project with their products for some time. Of course, I was in full Valentine mode. (a favorite holiday of mine) I found some time last night, and made this sweet layout of my darling little girl. The papers were on my scrapbook desk for a few days. I was not positive which snapshots I would use. The only thing that was certain was that my next page would be with Jillibean! I was going through my IPhoto, and I stumbled upon a snapshot of Macie that was adorable! (I am a little bit bias) It was taken last summer, while we were living in Texas. I love everything about the it! I love the way I captured just a glimpse of her personality at the tender age of 4! Do not be surprised, if you see this snapshot on another page! I love it, that much! (I can do this, right???) LOL

Love their corrugated alphas! They were originally in kraft, and I painted them in black acrylic paint! How perfect, that you can add the color of your choice, to match your project! (These alphas are coming out in more colors!!!! Wahoo!)
Yes, this gal loves her pop dots! Lots of dimension happiness going on here!

 

Seriously, how cute is that envelope??? It is from Maya Road, and it came in a package of 10! There are five different styles, with adorable flaps!!! I am in love with these sweet envelopes. I included my journaling in this envelope, and attached it to the page! It matched the kraft paper perfectly! (I embossed it with my go to embossing folder, Swiss Dots by Cuttlebug!)
One last detail:

I cut out a few of the flowers from the paper to embellish my page. I crumpled them, and added glimmer mist to add texture to them.  Super easy!

"Your r the bees knees" Making Memories Designer Challenge

Hi, again! I have shared with you the following layout, but I had several crafting mistakes! First, I had titled my layout,"your the bees knees, instead of, "you r the bees knees!" Did anyone catch this?? I did while I was at a cheer competition!  After I had photographed the layout, I noticed my string on top had tilted a little, too!  I could let that go, because after all, I am a novice photographer! LOL
I had already decided to make a change with the flower, too.  I should have used the brown polka dotted paper too! Oh, well. I decided to leave it alone, and add it to a pile of layouts that need some special attention. (Luckily, there is only one other layout in this pile!)
This morning I went to one of my favorite blogs, Making Memories. I noticed there was a design challenge, by Laura Vegas. I thought this was my opportunity to go ahead, and make the changes, today. Not wait until next time! Who knows, when I would get to it!!
So thank you Making Memories, because now my layout can go into the family album, with the completed pages!

"Sugar Rush" My Mind's Eye (Love Me Do)

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day with your loved ones! I enjoyed my day with my family. My kids each made me a Valentine! It was a wonderful beginning to the day. The kids and I spent time at the park, and played board games, until Steven returned. Then it was off to dinner, all five of us! Love it when we are together!!
I was supposed to post the following layout yesterday for in2scraps, but it was not completed. If you read my blog, (all three of you, LOL), you will notice that I do not post on the weekends. We are so busy during the week, that weekends are a time for me to reconnect with my family. Of course, we have cheer, baseball, and other activities. Steven and I also work on the weekends. I love having my downtime, and connecting with my family. So I have made it a habit of not blogging on weekends. (However, never say never!)  LOL
in2scraps theme was {Love} Day! I decided to use Love Me Do by My Mind's Eye. The colors in this collection are so vibrant, and scream happiness. I already had the snapshots of Roman printed. Originally, I was going to use another paper line. (Any guesses???) However, changed direction, and do love the end result. These snapshots of Roman were taken at a Christmas Cookie Exchange party. I love the snapshot of him looking at the cookie, ready to devour it completely! He has a "sweet" tooth, just like his Mom!

Pop dots are my best friend! Love the alphabet letters from Adornit. They have so much dimension. I wish I had them in other colors!

"You're the bees knees"(Making Memories Lovestruck)

Have you heard the term of endearment, "you're the bees knees?" I thought this was a well known phrase. As I was printing out a photo of Gabi sitting with her knees together, this title came to my head.  I was surprised that a few of my friends, had not heard this sentiment. I will admit, I heard this term on one particular episode of  I Love Lucy! ( Yes, I am an I Love Lucy fanatic!) In fact, while I am scrapbooking, I am watching an I Love Lucy DVD!  I can watch the same episode a hundred times! Even Steven, will ask how I can watch the same show over and over again!  But I can, and I do! LOL
I decided to change things up a bit, and use the Lovestruck collection, from Making Memories, to document this sweet photo of my daughter, Gabriela.

 Details:

On this flower, I layered two scallop circles together.  I simply crumpled them, and attached with a pop dots. I used two small red heart buttons for the leaves.

I love this tile chipboard from Technique Tuesday. I know you cannot tell from the snapshot, but I inserted a piece of transparency underneath the tile. I wanted to accent the beautiful quote on the paper. 

I wanted to show you one more detail of the letters from, My Mind's Eye. I love the texture on them! They were so easy to apply to the page! Love the color, too! (I was lucky enough to have letters leftover, from the class at CHA.)
