Mother's Day Card & Glassine Bag {Duetica}

Hi, everyone!

It is a rainy, and damp, today. A perfect day to stay inside, and catch up on the many to do's that need attention today. With Mother's Day right around the corner, thought this was the perfect opportunity to be ahead this year on my gift. I created the following card, and sweet bag for my Mother. It may even reach her prior to the acutal day!


This card uses the Duetica font, Woodwynds! A favorite of mine, and a perfect fit for the new  collection, Sweet Afternoon by Teresa Collins. I love anything pink, and it looks so soft with the touches of grey.

Here is the detail of my simple sentiment: Happy Mother's Day. I think this helps to get my message across to my fabulous Mom. I miss her so much, and wish I lived close to her.{Sigh}

A Mother's Day Card needs a pretty bag to house a gift certificate, and maybe a chocolate, or too.

This bag also uses the Duetica Woodwynd's font for my sentiment along the bottom. I also typed a single letter to create a monogram. My mom's name is Mary, and thought this gave it a more formal touch.

Here is detail of the sentiment I typed used Woodwynds. I love all the curls, and twist. Perfect to enhance the fun party garland along the bottom of the bag. What I love most about Duetica, is that they give you so many different options for each letter than the traditional font!

hello, there {My Mind's Eye} Scrapbook Page

Hi, everyone! 

Today, I have a page using My Mind's Eye, On the Bright Side Collection! I thought I mix it up a bit, and share a page of my sweet son! He will be nine soon! Where does the time go? He rarely likes to stop for a photo. So out of fifteen, this is the only I captured of him smiling(;

I love all the woodgrain papers found in this collection, and used it as the backdrop for the page. One of the things I love about My Mind's Eye, are all the tags, brads, and titles! I am able to create pages quickly, and love being able to add different details to them.

It seems stars just go well with boy pages. Here I diecut a star out of the red dot paper, and used the premade circle embellishment on top. I did a bit of inking using Towbow's Dual Craft Markers. The gray pen was a perfect match to the papers.

I cut several strips of paper to layer over the premade journaling tag. They are not just for journaling! They make for perfect accents to your pages.

Here I created a bit of a pocket using pop dots. This helped to raised my title over the patterned paper. I wanted to be able to tuck in my journaling, and a few stick pins for fun accents.

Okay, time for me to get ready for work. I am usually off on Tuesdays, but someone needed my help today(: Tomorrow, I will share the two page layout I created for a recent class. It uses the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection.  I do have nine kits avaialble, so if you are interested in seeing the page, please come back tomorrow(;

Sealed with Love {Valentine's Tag Class} Timeless Treasures

Hi, everyone!

I just wanted to send out a reminder about my tag class on Thursday, January 26th, at Timeless Treasures. As of today, I have four spots available. We will be making twelve different tags, with lots of details, and layers.

Be You Fancy Pants {Day One}

Hi there!

I cannot believe how quickly the weekend went by for me! Where does the time go? I have been busy preparing for CHA,kid's activities,work,etc. However, I did sneak off to see two movies on Friday night, with a couple of my girlfriends. I knew I had way too much to do, but sometimes you simply have to take a break. Well, I do, at least.(;

Today,I get to start sharing some of my projects using the new Fancy Pants CHA goodies!  Today's featured collection on the Fancy Pants Blog, is Be You. You can see the entire collection, here.  Gorgeous colors, and funky patterns.I created the following page with Be YOU:

You, You, You

This photo is of Macie taken last March. Every time I take a look at the series of photos I have, there is always one that I find that needs to be documented.I love how my lens reflected off the sun to create the green shadow effect on the photo. Not sure if this is a good thing, but I love it just the same! The colors of this collection are vibrant, and matches my daughter's personality to a tee!

a few details:

One paper I love to see in their collection, are the border strips all on one 12x12 sheet. Cute borders, and adorable titles like the one you see above! How funky is that bird? I also created a white lacy border strip, and included my journaling on this border! 

I cut my title using my diecutting machine, and added some cute accents using the chipboard elements. Of course, I adding a bit of embossing behind the title. Simple white cardstock, with a heart embossing folder, that coordinated perfectly with this page. It even matches the green patterned paper. Okay, I just now noticed that! LOL I love it when that happens! I was thinking how smart I was that it matched the chipboard element, never noticed the green paper was the same pattern! LOL


Finally, a simple heart design cut from the papers, and a new item that Fancy Pants has added, are stamps! They are a mini size, and you will find a variey of them within each collection! Also, a banner chipboard that added more texture to, by embossing it!

Love is in the air {Valentine's Tag Class}

Today, I am wrapping up the small details on my classes at Timeless Treasures. I love creating tags with all sorts of textures, and bringing out my favorite "valentine's" stamps. Here is a peek of one out of the twelve tags, we will be creating in class:

Love this flower die, and it is perfect cut out of felt. I have two more classes also planned in the next two months. One is a mini album, and the other is simply dressing paper bags into something special. I will share them soon.

Bag of Christmas Tags on the Blvd. {Bella}

Today, on the Bella Blog I shared some fun Christmas tags with Bella's Christmas Wishes collection. I love giving tags as a hostess gift, and I also enjoy creating tags for my children's presents. Christmas wishes is full of happy colors, and who would not love to see this merry color palette under the tree?

details:

Here is a closer look at the bag I created. I thought this was a cute size to tuck them into. On the front I used a white doily that I cut the inside circle from, and layered it with a circle, punched from vellum. Of course, I added a bit of embossing using a snowflake embossing folder. Then just simple embellishments round out this bag. I used the adorable chipboard reindeer, stickers, and white seam binding. I attached a mini jingle bell from the bow with a safety pin.

A look at the three tags I created:

I really love the simplicity of this one. I used the journaling spots from the cute cuts paper, as the base for all of my Christmas tags. Here I rounded the corners, and used my new punch for a few touches. I love the three circles on the front, and the star element as the final detail to the tag.

Here I used a little bit of this & that to create a tag full of texture, and dimension. Again, the tree is a cute cut, that I cut to fit onto the tag. I embellsihed it with a sweet candy cane, and a dec. 25 circle that was inked with one of Bella's miniature stamp sets. Another glittered star, and gorgeous silver seam binding finish the tag at the top.

 

My final tag created with all traditional Christmas colors. The white satrburst circle underneath the green scallop is the circle cut from the inside of the white doily, used on the first tag. I used some border strips, and more stamping to finish the bottom of the tag.

I have discovered in the last year, that I love designing tags for any time of the year. I hope to begin working on 14 new Valentine's tags this weekend. I will share a peek of a few of them, once they are done. They are part of a class I will be teaching in January.

My Mind's Eye Stella Rose

Today, on the My Mind's Eye Blog we are featuring Father's Day pages. I chose to document this sweet photo of my husband, with our kids. I love how in this photo, the children are so close to him. They really adore him, and we are so blessed to have him, in our lives.

I will admit, I struggled with this page. I am not sure why, but I do love the end result. I did add strips of vellum, to soften the page.


I really wanted to add flowers to this page, but decided to add simple butterflies as embellishments. (Also, Roman does not like flowers on any of his pages.) LOL I used the Martha Stewart tags as the base for the butterflies. I used the Hattie, Happy Decorative Brad pack, to embellish the centers. Of course, a touch of embossing to a couple of them, adds extra detail that I love.


I included my journaling on a preprinted circle from My Mind's Eye. It does have a sentiment, but is hidden underneath the layers. The Together embellishment, had another layer underneath. However, I simply took it apart, so it could stand alone.


Of course, a little inking adds instant detail to your projects, without any extra dimension. (Although, I love dimension on my pages.) The stamp used was the Stella Rose Memories Stamp.
